His accomplishments in environmental advocacy include passing legislation that sets a binding cap on Hawaii’s greenhouse gas emissions, requires that all new homes use solar water heaters, requires returnable deposits on all beverage containers, provides incentives for renewable energy use, and increases the funding of natural resources through tourism taxes.

He also served as Vice Chair of both the Honolulu Planning Commission and the Honolulu Charter Commission where he authored successful Charter amendments that require islandwide curbside recycling and creating a bike- and pedestrian-friendly Honolulu.
In addition to his role with Blue Planet, Jeffrey is currently a district manager for Vice President Al Gore’s Climate Project. He has been awarded an EPA Environmental Hero Award and in 2005 the Honolulu Star-Bulletin ranked him among “10 Who Made a Difference.” Jeffrey has been quoted as a source thousands of times in Hawai‘i, national, and international news outlets. Jeffrey earned a Master’s of Science degree in engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign studying decision theory.

She is also Chief Technology Mom and Co-Founder of the Silicon Valley Moms Group that currently have eight regional collaborative mom blogs: Silicon Valley Moms Blog, Chicago Moms Blog, DC Metro Moms Blog, New Jersey Moms Blog and New York City Moms Blog, New Jersey Moms Blog, 50-Something Moms Blog and the Los Angeles Moms blog. When she has free time, she likes to hang with the bloggers at SFBayStyle & MOMocrats and contribute to the Silicon Valley Moms Blog. She saves her technology rants for Techmamas.

Here are 5 things to know about me…..TechMama (her nickname) started her career in application development (yes – programming), then system auditing and her last role was Senior Manager, Computer Process Integrity, for Deloitte. Before motherhood, one of her biggest career achievements was selling security services to Microsoft by showing them some new security tricks.

She jumped off Partner track at Deloitte to jump onto the parenting track and utilized blogging and online social networking to stay involved with technology. (with husband and three boys, two of which are twins toddlers). Now she spends time being taught new superhero and sports tricks by her sons. As a mother, she went through technology withdrawal and decided to try blogging.

She also founded MTB consulting (mother of three boys) for social media strategy consulting (currently on hold until blogging slows down!). Corporations and organizations have asked her to speak on topics ranging from how to start blogging, online social networking and how to choose the right technology for families. She also assists Corporate clients on the technical side of using social media to reach their target market.
